◆Japan Air Self Defense Force Stopped By Palau
On July 3 and 5, a C-130H aircraft of Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF), operated by Maj. Osamu Kato, made overnight stopovers at Palau International Airport (PIA) for refuel.
On July 3, the aircraft, originating from Japan with 15 crew members, arrived at PIA at 3:45 p.m., to refuel and left July 4, 9:00 a.m., for Papua New Guinea (PNG). The following day, July 5, the aircraft, with 33 crew members, returned to Palau for another refueling and is heading back for Japan on July 6.
The JASDF was attending the Pacific Partnership 2013 in PNG from June 25 when they found problems in their original aircraft so they had to transport their crew members using the C-130H aircraft.
In October 2012, two JASDF C-130H aircraft came to Palau for flight training.
